There were a lot of trends on the 2026 Met Gala red carpet worth discussing, but the one we can’t stop thinking about most of all? Blurred lips. It’s a soft, diffused take on traditional lipstick that feels both effortless and intentional. Makeup artist Nina Park inspired the trend, which blurs the semimatte lip to give it a romantic, just-kissed look.
On this first Monday of May, attendees embraced both bright and dark colors and plenty of drama to fit this year’s “Fashion Is Art” dress code. But even though the outfits varied, the appearance of blurred lips remained a constant. And no matter what the stars were wearing, their blurred lipstick brought a sense of softness to their look.
Best of all, the blurred lip trend can be easily replicated at home. You can follow our full tutorial, below, but essentially the idea is to put on your favorite matte lipstick and don’t worry about staying in the lines.
Celebrities like Zoe Kravitz, Rosé, and Anna Weyant are all great examples of how to do this trend. Keep scrolling for all the lipstick inspo you’ll need this spring.
Zoë Kravitz
Zoë Kravitz showed off a blurred lip in a deeper wine tone. Maybe you didn’t notice right away because you were too focused on whether or not she was going to debut the rumored engagement ring or her Saint Laurent dress, but it’s worth looking closer now. Paired with her lace gown and gorgeous braided up-do, this soft lip adds the perfect finishing touch to her look.
Of course, it’s not a surprise that Kravitz has a blurred lip given that Nina Park herself did the star’s makeup for the event. “For Zoë’s Met look, I wanted it to feel fresh and quietly romantic,” Park said via a press release. “The cheeks have a natural flush that brings warmth back into the face, and the lip is [L’Oreal Paris] Colour Riche Satin Lipstick in 762 Divine Wine that stays tonal with the skin. The lashes are defined but still soft, just enough to frame the eyes without taking away from the freshness of everything else.”
To keep the lip fresh and tonal, Park layered the lipstick lightly so it stayed close to Kravitz’s natural tone but “just a bit more alive.” According to the expert, “ It adds color without taking over, so everything still feels effortless.”
Rosé
Rosé’s blurred lip played nicely into her delicate signature style, which was well on display with her Saint Laurent dress and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. The touch of pink around her eyes added a romantic touch, too.
Anna Weyant
Anna Weyant embraced the theme with an oversized bow detail on her Marc Jacobs dress. Best of all, her lips seamlessly match the gown’s blush pink tone too. Romantic, pretty, and totally going on my Pinterest board.
Amanda Seyfried
While Amanda Seyfried’s blurred lip is slightly more solid, it still softens at the edges. It’s a kaç balance between the ballet-slipper pink and blurred lip trends. And a great makeup choice to go with her Prada dress and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.
Angel Reese
Angel Reese’s blurred lips is a confident and fresh take on the trend. The softened edges complemented, rather than distracted from, her custom Altuzarra dress and Smiling Rocks jewelry.
