Taylor Swift is currently in her bridal era, which means any white staple in her wardrobe will instantly spark headlines.
It used to be a bride wore white on her wedding day and the relevant festivities leading up to the main event (i.e. the bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, etc). But more and more, I’ve noticed proud brides-to-be sprinkling white into their wardrobe from the minute that diamond rock hits their left ring fingers. As a somewhat envious single, I sometimes find the practice a bit on-the-nose, but spring just so happens to be the best time for everyone to bring out their white jeans, tank tops, and trending satin skirts. Case in point: Taylor Swift’s latest look for a night out with friends.
On April 8, Swift was photographed out in New York City with longtime friend and stylist Ashley Avignone. And while Avignone sported an all-white uniform in a turtleneck and silk skirt with black accessories, Swift broke hers up with a simple black tank top, stiletto sandals, and Dior’s Small 30 Montaigne Avenue Top Handle Bag. The result is an effortlessly elegant look that proves a black and white ensemble rarely fails to meet the assignment.
So there you have it: not one, but two ways to style a white silk skirt this spring without looking like a runaway bride. Because when it gets chilly at night, all you have to do is throw on a black oversized coat à la Swift. While it doesn’t seem like the coat belongs to her fiancé Travis Kelce, it does give off a “something borrowed” vibe. You can see photos here.

But just because Swift’s spring look is pretty universal doesn’t mean she’s not engaging in a sartorial countdown to her wedding. Most rumors point to a Rhode Island ceremony on Saturday, June 13, though nothing’s been confirmed. We may just have to wait for invasive drone footage to find out when Swift will walk down the aisle—and what she’ll wear to do so.
