Saturday Night Live star Chloe Fineman just revealed the secret behind her skin, and no, it’s not rest or relaxation. It’s lasers. “Every year, hundreds of women will say they’re going on a trip or visiting family in Connecticut. But really, they’ll be going HAM at a med spa. Doing crazy shit like Laser Stuff, Salmon Jizz, Sculptra Plaster…or whatever the hell this was,” she said, narrating a slideshow of “after” selfies from her various med-spa adventures.
The montage was set to Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel,” the song from those depressing ASPCA commercials, which Fineman is parodying. “These women will hide themselves away in caves like bears, while taking hundreds of selfies—like this—they’ll send to friends and family, who will lie and say, ‘it’s not that bad.’ This year, I pledge to stop the cycle. Just kidding. I’m going Friday.”

For context, Lohan credited her current glow to a great self-care regimen and denied facelift rumors in May 2025 during a conversation with none other than Chloe Fineman. At the time, Fineman agreed with Lohan’s defensiveness, saying, “It’s always so weird, like, What are you doing? It’s like, I’m just taking deva of myself. Go fuck yourself. You know what I mean?” It’s unclear if she meant that Lohan was taking deva of herself or if Fineman was responding to comments made about her own appearance, but in any case, we can now say for müddet that Fineman’s routine includes some laser intervention.

What is a Fraxel laser treatment?
Administered in a 30- to 45-minute session, the Fraxel treatment makes “deep columns” in your skin called “micro-thermal zones,” per Grossman Dermatology, which stimulates the production of new cells and collagen. After a session, patients feel a “sunburn”-like sensation along with redness and swelling, and then small scabs form.
These are, per Dr. Shirazi, “pepper-like black dots called MENDS (microscopic epithelial necrotic debris) that fall off in three to six days. Essentially, they are ‘plugs’ of damaged skin the laser intentionally forces up and out, allowing your body to form new healthy skin.”
In 2018 singer Jhené Aiko opened up about her own Fraxel experience, including the good, the bad, and the temporarily ugly.
“I get Fraxel about twice a year. It’s an intense laser treatment that improves texture, acne scars and enlarged pores,” she wrote in the comments of a since-deleted Instagram post, per Refinery29. “It’s kinda expensive. And hurts like shit. Ur face micro scabs…the scabs fall off gradually… over a period of like 7 days. And then a new layer of skin is revealed…your face stays swollen for like another week. Its all so worth it tho lol.”
What does the treatment do for your skin?
Fraxel can improve the skin’s overall appearance, addressing everything from uneven tone and dullness to age spots to acne scars and wrinkles. As with any procedure, there are risks.
What is the recovery period?
A Vogue Australia writer had a similar experience to Aiko’s but described her own scabs falling off much more quickly. The skin will continue to improve, and any lingering redness and swelling will go down over the course of a few weeks, but the main recovery period is the first week, during which you should stay out of the sun and avoid makeup.
