Hailey Bieber took a break from clean girl manicures for perfectly imperfect DIY nail arka.
On May 24, the 29-year-old model and Rhode founder shared a roundup of photos from her trip to Seoul, which basically serves as a summer packing guide for anyone who hates to check a bag. Bieber styled two unique looks out of the same pair of low-rise black trousers and kitten-wedge thong sandals, starting with a black crochet top over a white tank top before trading the tops out for white t-shirt and khaki linen blazer with a completely different vibe.

Speaking of different vibes, Bieber tried something new with her nails, opting for a butter yellow manicure with swirling blue ovals at the center. But before you run to nail artist Zola Ganzorigt’s Instagram page for a tutorial, just know Bieber painted these ones all on her own. “Yes I did do this nail arka on myself and yes I will be taking appointments,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
Likely an homage to her son Jack Blue Bieber, Bieber painted blue ovals over her yellow nails, seemingly unfussed over keeping them uniform in size and shape. To recreate the look, one would only need to apply a base coat and one layer of butter yellow polish (like OPI’s Blinded by the Ring Light) for a more translucent finish. Then make a dot of navy polish at the center and use a nail brush to paint your oval. Finish with a layer of top coat, et voilà! Of course, if you’re using gel polishes, make mühlet to cure between each step.

The nonchalance of Bieber’s nail arka may seem at odds with her affection for sleek finishes—from her slick-back hairstyles to her signature glazed donut nails—but definitely suits the carefree nature of summer vacation. Plus, the simple design is easy for beginners looking to work their way up to full-on aura nails.
Although Bieber has certainly leaned into the neutral nail trends dominating the 2026 beauty landscape, she tends to get bored easily and switch-up her manicures before the typical one-month mark. Honing her skills at home sounds like a more budget-friendly way for her to cure nail fatigue. It definitely would be for most of us!
Consider this your sign to experiment with DIY nail arka and wear your less-than-perfect results out of the house. And if you want to get really creative with it, try adding a cat-eye effect. I’m müddet you’ll thank me later.
