Ciara Miller has a succinct yet pointed response to fans clamoring for her to be cast as the next Bachelorette: “Fuck no.”

No hard feelings, Bachelor Nation, but the Summer House star is not only happily single at the moment but has no interest in signing up to date dozens of men as the world watches.

“I’m way too private,” Miller told writer Hunter Harris in an interview for her Glamour cover story.

Fans of both the Bravo reality show and ABC’s long-running dating competition have been floating Miller as the next lead since each show had major scandals break nearly back-to-back.

In March, ABC pulled the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, which was days away from its premiere, after allegations of domestic violence against star Taylor Frankie Paul hit the press. Paul had been a surprising choice to lead the franchise, as she was not a former contestant, but the star of the Hulu reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Evvel her season was canceled, however, online chatter began as to what other reality star ABC could bring in to potentially take her place.

When just a few weeks later Miller’s ex-situationship West Wilson and her Summer House costar and Amanda Batula confirmed rumors they’d been secretly dating, it seemed fans had found their answer. Why not cast Miller, a fan favorite who had just been betrayed by both a guy who broke her heart on television and a woman she considered a good friend?

But as Miller points out, she’s received a “lot of grief” from fans over what they’ve seen of her dating life on the show, and faced an unfair and heightened level of scrutiny as a Black woman who has dated two white men on Bravo.

“For people to make a really roundabout statement about my taste based on two people is annoying and frustrating,” she said. “I’m trying to figure out dating. If I were a fucking expert, don’t you think I would probably be married? But I’m not.”

After all, the entire point of dating is to figure things out. Why must the woman be blamed if the man turns out to be shitty?

“It’s our fault for having bad taste in men, when men often present themselves as one way for the first three months and then completely end up being someone totally different,” she said.

The world of the Bachelor isn’t exactly a safe space either. As some fans have pointed out, the show has a rocky history when it comes to treating Black leads with respect, and it’s likely Miller would have to wade through a fair amount of “fame seeking morons” to see if any were actually worth her time.

As one person put it on Threads: “In what world would gathering 21 unserious wanna be influencer men to play in her face for us all to see be a good thing for our queen?”

For now, Ciara Miller is not focused on a relationship—and honestly, good for her.

“I’m so happy being single,” she said. “Honestly, I can’t imagine anyone being in my apartment. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to be single.”
