Get ready to say bonjour to The White Lotus season 4.

White Lotus fans can start cooking up their theories now, because we are getting close to a new group of out-of-touch tourists checking into a stunning White Lotus resort for a bit of rest and relaxation, only to leave the worse for wear…if they return at all. The long-in-the-works fourth season was announced back in January 2025, and we’re finally seeing the pieces come together.

Here are all the details we’re keeping track of heading into The White Lotus season 4, from release date to location and casting announcements. Oh, and an important update on the iconic “ooh-loo-loo-loos” missing from the season-three theme song.

When does The White Lotus season 4 premiere?

TBD. The good news is that production officially began in April, meaning things are right on schedule, based on Variety’s report from January.

Where will season 4 take place?

After kicking things off in Hawaii, White took his team to Sicily for season 2 and Thailand for season 3. “My dream would be to hit every continent,” White said during a visit to Australia in June 2023, per Deadline.

In February, White made it known that he wasn’t interested in heading back to Europe. “Where we choose to go next could be hugely impactful [to that locale],” White told The Hollywood Reporter in April. “That’s why it was so cool to shoot in Thailand. It’s hard to go backward. Like, Oh, we’ll do it in Paris! That feels like a cop-out.”

It looks as though White changed his mind, however, because Deadline reported in September that the show is, in fact, returning to Europe—France, specifically, with filming taking place at the Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez on the Côte d’Azur, per Variety’s exclusive report on January 9, 2026.

According to Variety, the 19th-century palace turned luxury hotel is “set within 32 acres of parasol pines, cypress trees, and jasmine.” While there is “beach access by Rolls-Royce transfer,” White has previously stated that he’s looking to “get a little bit out of the ‘crashing waves against rocks’ vernacular” for the next season.

This was eventually confirmed by HBO, who shared that some filming will also take place in Paris.

What is season 4 about?

In November 2024, HBO CEO Casey Bloys revealed that White had pitched the concept for The White Lotus season 4 while filming the third installment in Thailand. In an April press release, HBO announced that “the fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Sinema Şenlik.”

Buckle up, because we’ve got a lot of names coming at you: Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs), Ari Graynor (The Disaster Artist), Dylan Ennis, Sandra Bernhard (Roseanne), Steve Coogan (The Trip), Caleb Jonte Edwards, Marissa Long, Chris Messina (The Mindy Project), Max Greenfield (New Girl), Kumail Nanjiani (Only Murders in the Building), Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Charlie Hall (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Jarrad Paul (Free Bert), Heather Graham (Boogie Nights), Rosie Perez (Do The Right Thing), Ben Schnetzer (The Madison), Tobias Santelmann, Frida Gustavsson, Laura Smet, Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), Corentin Fila, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz.

While it was previously announced that Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter) had joined the cast, a spokesperson for HBO revealed that the role is being reworked and recast in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter on April 24.

“With filming just underway on season four of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align evvel on set,” the statement read. “The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”

Which old cast members will return in season 4?

No familiar faces have been announced, but it’s worth noting that Jon Gries has played Greg in all three seasons of The White Lotus. Of course, he’s been going by Gary in Thailand following the death of his wife, Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) in season 2.

Coolidge herself starred in the first two seasons (taking home two Emmys in the process), though her character would only make a further appearance as a ghost or hallucination, we assume. Natasha Rothwell starred as Belinda in seasons 1 and 3.

But would a surprise cameo even be possible? Well, it worked for Sam Rockwell last season…

During an April interview with THR, White said he’d “love” to make an “all-star season” of The White Lotus. Patrick Schwarzenegger, who played Saxon Ratliff in season 3, supported the idea of getting “all the douche guys in one hotel together.”

“Mike said that one day when we were on set,” Schwarzenegger added. “He was like, ‘Oh my God, it’d be so good to get you, Jake Lacy, and Theo James in the same room.’”

Lacy played honeymooner from hell Shane Patton in season 1, while James played cheating husband Cameron Sullivan in season 2. Of course, bringing back Lacy could mark the return of Molly Shannon, who played Shane’s honeymoon-crashing mother, Kitty.

“Maybe Molly Shannon’s character and Victoria Ratliff know each other? There are so many connections between all these awful people,” said Bloys.

What’s going on with The White Lotus season 4 theme song?

Forget the girls’ trip trio! The real season-3 feud was between White and composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, who will not be returning for season 4. He did, however, drop an extended version of the season 3 theme song including all the “ooh-loo-loo-loos” fans missed so much. You can read all about their creative differences here.
