When it comes to the TV shows canceled in 2026, most of them are longtime favorites that will be hard to see go. It’s hard enough to bid farewell to Outlander lovers Jamie and Claire, but how can we be expected to say goodbye to the entire dysfunctional found family of The Bear in the very same year?!

Of course, cancellations like those are a double-edged sword. On the one hand, fans are devastated that Hacks and The Chi are coming to an end, but at least their creators were able to tell their stories the way they always intended. Plus, fans of these shows are getting an ample amount of time to prepare themselves, unlike Tell Me Lies viewers who learned the show had ended the same day its series finale dropped on Hulu in February.

But even in that case, everything went according to showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer’s plan. So far, very few shows have been yanked off the air without closure, though it was shocking to learn the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is no longer moving forward at Hulu.

Here are all the TV shows canceled in 2026—and whether or not they’re coming back for a final bow.

Amazon Prime Video

The Boys: The popular series about bad-guy superheroes will end after five seasons, which is exactly what creator Erik Kripke always planned. Prime Görüntü drops the first two episodes of the final season on April 8, 2026.

Good Omens: On May 13, Prime Görüntü will drop a 90-minute movie to conclude the fantasy saga in lieu of a third season. The switch was made after showrunner Neil Gaiman, who co-authored the original book, was accused of sexual assault by several women in July 2024, though more accusations have since come out. In February 2026, Gaiman described the accusations as a “smear campaign” that are “simply and completely untrue” in a statement, per The Los Angeles Times.

AMC

Talamasca: The Secret Order: While AMC decided not to renew this Ann Rice series, it’s possible these mysterious agents will show up in season three of Interview With the Vampire, now called The Vampire Lestat.

Apple TV+

Apple TV+

For All Mankind: On March 24, Apple TV+ announced that the political sci-fi drama, which explores an alternative history of the US versus USSR space race, has been renewed for a sixth and final season, which will air in 2027. Meanwhile, the spin-off series, Star City, lifts off in May.

Palm Royale: The Kristen Wiig–helmed comedy about a Palm Beach social climber in the 1960s will end with its second season, which aired its finale on January 14.

CBS

DMV: This March, Deadline announced that CBS has canceled its new workplace sitcom about a Los Angeles Department of Motor Vehicles.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert: The end of Colbert’s late-night show was announced back in 2025 but will officially come on May 21, 2026. As Glamour wrote at the time, the timing was suspicious due to the Paramount/Skydance merger, which needed to approval from the Trump administration.

The Neighborhood: Cedric the Entertainer’s beloved sitcom about a Midwestern couple who move into a predominantly Black neighborhood in California was renewed for an eighth and final season back in March 2025.

Watson: Meanwhile, the network’s Sherlock Holmes–inspired medical drama centered on Dr. John Watson (Morris Chestnut) will conclude its second and final season on May 3, 2026.

The CW

All American: The football drama is coming to an end after eight seasons, though the exact date of the final season has yet to be announced.

Good Cop/Bad Cop: Leighton Meester’s familial buddy cop show is DOA after one season, per costar Luke Cook.

The Bear: News that The Bear was ending with season five came from an unexpected source: recurring guest star Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Carmy’s (Jeremy Allen White’s) mother on the popular series. In a February Instagram post, Curtis wrote that the show “finished strong,” praising the cast and crew for “completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with.” Deadline confirmed the news through additional sources in March, though it should’ve been obvious given the events of the season-four finale, which I won’t discuss here because of spoilers. As far as we know, the fifth and final season is still set to air in 2026.

Hallmark Channel

The Way Home: The fourth and final season of this time-travel drama—not to be confused with Outlander—will begin airing on April 19.

HBO

The Comeback: Nearly 12 years after season two aired in 2014, Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow have brought back Valerie Cherish to take on Hollywood’s AI sorun in the show’s third and final season.

Industry: Shortly after the season-four finale dropped in February, HBO announced that the next season of the finance drama will be its last. Of course, we likely won’t have to say goodbye to these morally bankrupt investment bankers until 2027 at the earliest.

Like Water for Chocolate: After two seasons of this forbidden romance set during the Mexican Revolution, HBO will drop the series finale on March 22.

HBO Max

Jake Giles Netter/Max

Hacks: Hannah Einbinder devastated Hacks fans when she confirmed the comedy would end with season five during an Emmys red-carpet interview in September 2025. Of course, this is not really a cancellation, as it was always the plan to end after five seasons. “It’s birçok to do something as many times as it should be done,” Einbinder said in September, per Variety. “Not overstay your welcome. Rip it and do it and laugh and cry.”

Hulu

Buffy: New Blood: This is not really a cancelation, as the series never made it to air. But we’re still devastated that Hulu pulled the plug on Chloé Zhao and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off series.

Tell Me Lies: The same day Tell Me Lies aired its season-three finale, showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer announced the show had come to a close. “After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight’s episode will be the series finale,” she wrote on Instagram in February. “This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it. Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion. My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you.”

NBC/Peacock

Law & Order: Organized Crime: The Law & Order spin-off helmed by Christopher Meloni has been canceled after five seasons, while SVU will return for a record-breaking 28th season. After the news was reported by Deadline, Meloni thanked fans for the “great ride” in an emotional Instagram görüntü.

“Hey everyone, I just saw that they announced OC, Organized Crime won’t be coming back,” Meloni said. “So I wanted to take this moment to say thank you to the fans, who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back.”

He continued, “Good ride. It was a good ride, I had a great time playing him. It was a great ride, but thank you. You helped give me a career that I never dreamed of. Nearly 17 odd years.”

His longtime SVU costar and friend Mariska Hargitay commented “P4L” on the görüntü, which likely means “partners for life” if it’s not an Outer Banks reference…

Yes, Chef!: Martha Stewart and José Andrés’s new cooking competition won’t be getting a second season, per Deadline.

The Kelly Clarkson Show will end with season seven.

Access Hollywood and Access Live: On March 13, NBCUniversal announced it would be ending production on its first-run syndicated TV projects, which are sold directly to local stations and broadcasters. That includes the entertainment news program Access Hollywood, which has been on the air since 1996. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the current iteration hosted by Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover, Scott Evans, and Zuri Hall will continue production through the summer.

The Kelly Clarkson Show: Clarkson had already announced the end of her own syndicated talk show back in February, nearly six months after the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. According to THR, production on season seven will continue as scheduled, with new episodes airing through the fall.

“This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she said in a statement. “Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”

Karamo: The talk show hosted by Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown has already ended production after four years, though prerecorded episodes will reportedly air through the summer.

The Steve Wilkos Show: The same goes for the talk show hosted by Jerry Springer’s former security guard, Steve Wilkos.

Netflix

JACKSON LEE DAVIS/NETFLIX

The Abandons: Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson’s cool 1850s Western has been canceled after one season, per THR.

The Empress: The period drama about Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz of Austria will end with season three, which is set to air in late 2026.

Miss Governer: According to the show’s star Terri J. Vaughn, the Tyler Perry series about Mississippi’s first Black lieutenant governor will not return for a second season. “I have to admit, I was quite heartbroken when I first got the info, mainly because I really worked my ass off to make that show come to fruition,” Vaughn said in her Instagram görüntü, in part. “And not just worked my ass off but my heart, and the intention behind the show was just, and I still feel, was just so beautiful and purposeful [and] impactful to be able to tell those stories through that character.”

Outer Banks: It’s time to say goodbye to the Pogues! Netflix’s star-making teen drama will come to an end with its fifth season in 2026.

Queer Eye: Netflix dropped the 10th and final season of the uplifting makeover series in January 2026.

The Vince Staples Show: Rapper Vince Staples starred in two seasons of a fictional series based on his life in Long Beach, California. In January, Netflix announced it would not move forward with a third season.

Paramount+

Kailey Schwerman/Paramount+ with SHOWTIME.

The Chi: Lena Waithe’s coming-of-age story centered around a Chicago neighborhood will begin airing its eighth and final season on May 16. “When I created The Chi, it wasn’t just about making a TV show—it was about owning our narratives and telling our stories with truth, deva, nuance, and complexity. It was about showing the soul of the South Side—the beauty, the pain, the grit, and the magic that lives in every block, and in every family,” Waithe said in an October statement to Deadline, “After much reflection, we have made the decision to end The Chi with season 8. I know, for the sake of our story and our characters, it’s the right thing. I am committed to delivering a final season that our Chi Family deserves.”

Mayor of Kingstown: Back in January, Deadline reported that the Taylor Sheridan drama starring Jeremy Renner had been renewed for a fifth and final season, though it will shoot only six episodes instead of eight. No official date has been set, but it’s expected to air sometime in 2026.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy: Although this Star Trek spin-off was renewed before it even premiered, Variety reports the promising show will end with season two. With the season-one finale airing on March 12, it’s likely the final season won’t air until 2027.

Yellowjackets: Showtime’s survival thriller centered around a high school girls’ soccer team—and their future selves—will reach it’s “twisted conclusion” when its fourth and final season airs. While no official date has been announced, the final season is expected to air in late 2026 or early 2027.

PBS

Grantchester: The PBS Masterpiece period drama about a crime-solving vicar will end with season 11, which will likely air sometime in 2026.

Miss Scarlet: Meanwhile, the network recently announced the end of another period crime drama, which follows Victorian London’s first female private detective. No date for the seventh and final season has been shared, though filming began in early 2026.

Starz

Long live Jamie Fraser. Starz/Robert Wilson

Outlander: The time-travel romantasy adaptation is ending before book author Diana Gabaldon has finished writing Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) epic story. That means fans of the book no longer have inside knowledge about how the show will play out—or if Jamie will even survive. The eighth and final season began airing on March 6, with the long-awaited series finale scheduled for May 15.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan: The Power prequel, which tells the origin story of drug kingpin Kanan Stark (originally played by 50 Cent but portrayed by Mekai Curtis in the spin-off), will come to an end with season five. The final season begins airing on June 12, 2026.

Power Book IV: Force: Meanwhile, Starz’s third Power spin-off already came to a close after three seasons, but that doesn’t mean the network is done with the Power-verse. While Force follows drug lord Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) to Chicago after the [redacted] of [redacted] in New York City, the series finale left the door open for yet another sequel. Plus, another origin story has already been greenlit.
