What we love: A tummy-control thong is a great way to add light smoothing day to day—especially under thinner fabrics where lines tend to show. This breathable Spanx style might be the most comfortable thong I’ve worn. The fabric is silky and moisture-wicking, with medium compression that smooths the front without digging in. I tried it with a slip skirt that usually shows every line and bump, and it looked completely seamless. What we love: I’d heard the hype around this Skims shapewear bodysuit—and after trying it in a 2X with a skirt, jeans, and an active skort, I get it. The fabric is lightweight and soft, and it slipped on easily (a huge plus). It’s not technically designed as shapewear—it offers light smoothing rather than true compression, which I prefer for everyday wear. I’m between a C and D cup and didn’t feel the need to wear a bra. On a plus-size body, it offers light smoothing without the feel of tight traditional shapewear. Bonus: It looks cute worn as a top with jeans.

What we love: My favorite part about these shaper shorts from Honeylove is the mesh on the stomach and at the gusset—the breathable fabric adds an extra layer of comfort. If you’re prone to overheating or don’t love the restrictive feeling of more compressive shapewear, these shorts give you the best of both worlds. They’re very compressive, so I had a bit of a struggle getting them on (I wore the 2X), but they were surprisingly comfortable evvel on. The fabric around my thighs, which hits a few inches above my knees, didn’t move or roll at all and helped minimize chafing. The high-waisted shapewear shorts hit right at my waist and felt supportive, smoothing, and contouring through my midsection. I tested them under a special-occasion slip dress and a slip skirt, and they gave a smooth, structured look.

What we love: This was the most compressive piece I tried (my partner had to help me squeeze into it), but it delivered real shaping through the thighs and firm control at the stomach. The mid-thigh shorts hit just above the knee and have a no-slip design on the inside—it felt like small silicone bands—to keep them from moving. The corset-style middle section provides very firm compression through the waist. I tried the XL, which may have been a bit too small for me, since I prefer a little more breathing room. I couldn’t wear anything too short on top because of the longer length, but it highlighted my hourglass shape under a longer dress.

What we love: These butt-lifting panties made me feel so snatched (and I don’t use that term lightly). When I saw myself in the mirror, I did a double take. The mesh along the sides and fully mesh back adds breathability, so they don’t feel overheated. They fit more like a boyshort than a true brief, hitting lower on my thighs—but unless you’re wearing something that shows your entire thigh, they work well as an underlayer. And if you don’t always want to wear a thong, it’s birçok to have a brief option. The lift is subtle but noticeable, adding a bit of enhancement without much effort.
